Five common cabinet materials to help your kitchen choose and provide directions

What your cabinets are made of determines their appearance and their daily use and age. The common components of the cabinet materials are particle board, density board, plywood, Ou Song board and stainless steel.

cabinet materials

MDF

MDF is made by pressing recycled fiber, resin and wax under high pressure. In short, it is a high-grade composite material made of raw wood fiber and resin. It has good strength and smooth surface, but MDF is not as strong as plywood, and it is easily deformed and damaged by moisture.

In fact, MDF is a cost-effective cabinet material and has a good reputation among consumers. Usually used in large shopping mall furniture and kitchen cabinets.

Particleboard

The particle board is a combination of wood chips and particles with a binder and fused together to form a panel. Therefore, particle board is the weakest among the five kitchen cabinet materials, because it essentially grinds wood chips into small pieces, and the load-bearing capacity of the board is relatively poor.

However, particleboard has a relatively strong nail-holding force, and the price is the cheapest among the five kitchen cabinet materials.

Plywood

Plywood is made by layering wood at alternating right angles and then bonding them together with glue, heat and pressure. The plywood is strong and aspiring. It has high load-bearing ability among all cabinet building materials. It has good nail holding power and moisture resistance. It is an excellent choice for cabinet sides, backrests, shelves and drawer bottoms.

OSB

OSB is a type of particle board, which consists of layers of chips made up of pressed wood in the same direction. Among the five types of cabinet materials, OSB is relatively environmentally friendly, and has relatively strong advantages in moisture resistance, deformation resistance and nail holding power, and is mostly used in indoor furniture.

Stainless Steel

Although there are many materials for kitchen cabinets, stainless steel is one of the best. Whether it is environmental protection, moisture resistance, nail holding power, deformation resistance, and board bearing capacity are very good.

Stainless steel does not expand and contract like wood, making it a good choice for wet locations. In addition, the stainless steel cabinet is more durable and easier to clean.
